New UAE visa rule: Dubai residents can now sponsor friends, family for 90 days

According to Khaleej Times, residents and travel agencies can now sponsor their friends or family in Dubai by applying for a three-month visit visa. The visa requires a refundable deposit of AED1,000 from the host, with additional typing charges, bringing the total cost to AED1,770. Applications for the 90-day visa can be made online via the GDRFA website, mobile app, or at an Amer typing center, according to a travel agent.

The UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) has announced a range of changes in its smart services system to enhance customer experience, meet the needs of customers, and keep pace with the latest developments. 

These changes include the issuance of group family visas, exemption of fingerprinting for people of determination citizens, visa extension service expansion, and the provision of cancellation and amendment services for visa data in the accounts of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) citizens without Emirates ID. 

The smart services system also provides for the extension of visit visas for relatives or friends for single or multiple entries for a period of 30, 60, and 90 days. However, overstaying tourists could face absconding charges, fines, and blacklisting by the UAE government. Fines for overstaying start at AED5,000 and vary depending on the emirate's jurisdiction.
